Meet the Creative:
Hi! My name is Isabella Wilson (everyone calls me Bella), and I am a graphics and interactive designer. In design, I love to experiment with new ideas, tools and creative methods, especially in branding, typography, lettering, tangible and interactive media.
In 2012, I won the Warringah Youth Art Prize, for the most innovative idea, with a work involving sculpture, photography and de-silvered mirrors. In 2013, I expanded upon this idea, and made it even bigger and better for my HSC Visual Art major work, which was nominated for a Manly HSC showcase exhibition.
In 2015, I started Design and Media studies at UNSW, with the goal of becoming an advertising graphic designer. I majored in Graphics design and Interactive Media – and found an unexpected love for the world of interactive installation design in advertising. In 2019, I spent an Honours year deep diving into this new field full of untapped potential that I am eager to show to the world.
In December 2020, I spent a whole summer doing calligraphy with PVA glue and glitter on glass baubles, and loved every minute. I loved it so much that I went back and did it again in the summer of 2023… and 2024!
In January 2024 I started teaching children’s after-school art classes, and have found a passion for sharing my love of art, and encouraging and inspiring young minds to develop their own artistic passions. In December 2024 I even ran my own adult class, teaching a 3 hour workshop on traditional copperplate calligraphy.
I have a passion for exploring and experimenting with the limits of a project – pushing the boundaries of what is expected, and how design is normally perceived. Because of this, I’ve learned coding with HTML5, CSS, Processing and MaxMSP, I’m constantly experimenting with new materials and techniques, and I am always up for learning something new to get me where I want to be!
I have a passion for creativity that refuses to be quenched that I believe will bring an advantage to any team. I am a perfectionist and an achiever, a logical thinker and a head-in-the-clouds dreamer.
